Portugal has 6,369 children living in care homes, with only 3.5% of these children in foster families. As far as the Algarve region is concerned, of the 308 children in residential care, only 4 have been placed with foster families.
As part of the 6th edition of the Algarviana Ultra Trail (ALUT), Ombria, sponsor of the ATR – Algarve Trail Running Association, supports the fundraising campaign promoted by António Aleixo Foundation, Association for the Protection of Girls and Families (AIPAR) and ATR. An initiative that takes place between November 30th and December 31st 2023.
The fundraising campaign aims to help the António Aleixo Foundation and AIPAR publicize foster families for children aged 0 to 18.
As part of the ALUT competition, which takes place between November 30th and December 3rd 2023, the athlete from Faro, Filipe Conceição, will be sponsoring an online fundraising campaign available at : https://gofund.me/4551ba99. The amount raised will help the Aleixo Foundation and AIPAR promote foster families and foster care.
