The Head Greenkeeper of Ombria Resort's golf course, Luís Pinto, has been involved as a volunteer in the Presidents Cup on 20-25 September 2022, at the Quail Hollow Club golf course in Charlotte, North Carolina. His main function was the set-up of the greens on the back 9, always with the presence of a PGA Tour official.
The Presidents Cup is a four-day, match play event that has been held since 1994 at the initiative of the PGA Tour. This a competition pits an American team against an international team, where there are no European players. The Presidents Cup is a unique golf event in that there is no purse or prize money. Players are not paid for their participation, but each competitor allocates an equal portion of the funds generated to charities of his choice.
This time, the US team retained the Presidents Cup, winning the golf tournament by 17.5 to 12.5. This last edition was considered the largest event ever organized by the PGA Tour, with an average of 40,000 spectators per day and more than 5 hectares of structures along the course. Citi, Cognizant and Rolex are the exclusive Global Partners of the Presidents Cup. The Royal Montreal GC will serve as host of the 2024 Presidents Cup.
