Viceroy at Ombria Algarve has achieved Biosphere Certified status, an internationally recognised sustainability certification that reinforces the resort’s commitment to a responsible model of tourism aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The certification recognises the work undertaken by the resort across the environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainability. It reflects an integrated approach to luxury hospitality, where exceptional guest experiences go hand in hand with the preservation of natural resources, support for local communities and the appreciation of the cultural heritage of the region.
Set within the landscapes of the Algarve’s barrocal, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve was conceived from the outset with sustainability as one of its strategic pillars. The resort incorporates innovative energy-efficiency solutions, bioclimatic architecture, locally sourced materials, advanced water-management systems, renewable energy generation and one of the largest geothermal infrastructures applied to hospitality in southern Europe, significantly reducing its environmental footprint.
