After the government newspaper Diário da República announced that restrictions to Portugal’s golden visa were being delayed by another six months, until the end of the year, there is also another reason for investors and real estate agencies to stay hopeful.
Large swathes of the Algarve have been ‘excluded’ from the changes, which means that anyone interested in buying properties in the southern region of Portugal will still be able to qualify for what is essentially a doorway to a premium European destination.
According to Portugal Resident, as a coastal region, many believed the whole of the Algarve would be excluded by dint of being coastal.
“It is also welcome news for a select few developers who have real estate projects in these areas, such as the new Ombria Resort near Loulé which falls under the exempted area of the Union of Parishes of Querença, Tôr and Benafim, and in the west Algarve projects such Martinhal Resort in Sagres.”
Next year, much of the southern region will be excluded from the golden visa regime and Ombria Resort will continue to offer the most unique real estate investment opportunities, attracting potential buyers and foreign investors.
