The Sunday Times published their guide to the best international golf resorts for homebuyers, showcasing destinations in Spain and Portugal. They reported that the number of golfers is increasing across the UK (quoting the R & A, one of the game’s chief governing bodies), meaning more and more players are looking at prime overseas locations to enjoy golf on the doorstep of their holiday home.

Taking a look at some of the Algarve’s golfing destinations, the article highlights Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo as first-class resorts with superb family-friendly facilities, both less than 30 minutes from Faro international airport. Property prices are reported as among the highest in the Algarve: one- bedroom apartments at Quinta do Lago starting from €500,000, with homes at their latest development — 13 plots at North Grove, overlooking the North Course — priced from €3,513,250. Two-bedroom resale apartments at Vale do Lobo are for sale at about €850,000, while plots overlooking the Royal Golf Course start at €1.4 million.

Further west, the article describes Vilamoura’s five golf courses and its facilities, noting that they will be adding a second marina and additional properties. The resort’s Natura Village development, due for completion next year, will feature two and three-bedroom townhouses and villa plots priced from €650,000.

The guide to the Algarve concludes by showcasing the latest addition to the Algarve’s thriving golf scene, Ombria Algarve. Located at the heart of the rural Algarve, just a short drive from the coast, the article describes the natural luxury of the Viceroy Residences, competitively priced from €782,000 with fully furnished villas and townhouses, some overlooking the golf course, from €900,000.
